Get Your Customers in The Cross
Hairs
At first it seems simple. Just do a Google
search for Ezine advertising and you will probably find what you are
looking for - right? Wrong. One major issue you need to
contend with is that not every Ezine is actually read. Not only
do you need to find an ezine that is appropriate for your subject
matter, you need to get the details on their readership, circulation,
and you also need to determine how they come up with those numbers.
So for starters, we need to find the right ezine.
Secondly, we need to put our advertising copy together in a fashion
that will bring us visitors. Continue reading to find out how
we do this.
Ezine Selection and Effective Advertising
Check out the ezine before you go any further.
I recommend subscribing to the ezine for a few weeks prior to your
intended advertising campaign. This will allow you to
familiarize yourself with the ezine and determine if you think it
would provide you with an effective advertising medium.
Now assuming you like the ezine, you need to check
your facts:
-
Find out what the circulation is of the ezine, and what
countries is it marketed to? If most of its readers are in
another country, does it still make sense to advertise there for your
product?
-
You will also need to learn about the ezine's article acceptance, and advertising costs.
I like this free directory of ezines as a starting point for my
ezine marketing efforts: Jogena's eZine
Directory.
-
Verify how many advertisements appear in the ezine. If
there are too many advertisers, your message will get lost in the
clutter. This information is readily accessible in the link I
have provided above.
-
Ask the editor of the ezine if you can write an article for
the newsletter. Frequently ezines allow you to write an
informational piece for them, and in return will plug you or your
product. This is a win-win scenario.
-
Product placement - its worth paying a little extra to get
your advertisement in a prominent position in the ezine. Be
sure to write good copy so you don't waste your position.
If you are using affiliate products, use the copy they provide.
With Commission Junction,
you can even see which pieces of copy are converting the most
purchasers.
- Bribery (sort of) - If you can get the editor of the ezine to
mention your product or service in an the newsletter, this will
lend great credibility to you. I suggest providing the editor
with a free sample of your product or service in consideration of
mentioning it in the newsletter. This isn't applicable to all
products or services, but when you can do it, it's definitely worth
a try!
