Google and Overture.
These two companies are the kings of pay per click
advertising. Google has nearly 70% of the market and the
majority of the other 30% is controlled by Overture. Overture
is the company behind the advertisements you see on Yahoo and MSN.
It is quick and easy to get setup as advertisers with these two
behemoths. With Google, you can see your ads appear literally
within minutes of setting up your account.
Getting Started
For Google, go to www.adwords.com. Adwords is the
name Google has given for their program which shows the ads you see on
on the top and sides of the screens when you perform a Google search.
Advertisements can cost between 5¢ and $15 per click! My Gosh -
Fifteen Bucks to get a visitor to your site. They must be
making some serious money to pay that much for visitors. The
way this works is you log into your adwords account, and enter the
words you want to bid on. These are words that will trigger
your ad to be displayed when people perform a Google search.
You can even specify that you only want your ads displayed in certain
cites or countries.
For Overture, go to
www.overture.com,
and click on "AdvertiserSolutions". I recommend signing up for
the "Self Serve" option (which is free). The turn-around time
is not as fast as Google, and the minimum bid is 10¢ per visitor.
But advertising on Overture should be part of every web
entrepreneur's strategy.
Cashing in on Google with Google Cash
When I first tried advertising on Google, I burnt
through cash at an exhausting rate with very little return. I
was paying upwards of $1 per click for a product that made me $36.
Call me stupid. Well, I was quickly going broke advertising
like this. Then I discovered
Google Cash.
This is a system that shows you how to place ads on Google and never
pay more than 5¢ per visitor. Needless to say, I changed my
advertising strategy to the one described in
Google Cash.
The great thing about this system is that it is applicable to
Overture as well. Imagine that - you are covering 99% of the
internet and paying between 5¢ and 10¢ per visitor to your site.
Another key to the
Google Cash
system, is that it shows you how to utilize affiliate programs in
combination with the correct advertising such that you don't even
need your own site. Simply place the ads, and send the visitors
to your affiliate providers site. They make the sale, you make
the commission.
Check out the strategy I use - I log in to my Commission Junction
account and find the programs that payout $30-$50 per 100 visits to
their site. Next, I use the techniques described in
Google Cash
to keep my advertising costs somewhere between $5 and $10 per 100
visitors. I'm making a minimum of $20 per 100 clicks on my ads.
It doesn't get better than this, and we are talking simple math here!
